This week we are featuring some rather pointed smokes in our Sampler. Torpedos. Belicosos. Perfectos. Oh my!
LA AROMA DE CUBA MI AMORE BELICOSO (Nicaragua)
This highly rated cigar is from the house of My Father (via Ashton). A dark brown Mexican wrapper around Nicaraguan leaves produce deep, crisp flavors and earthy nuanced tones. The technical name for this shape is "Parejo" and it is a medium to full bodied smoke. Primo Strength Rating: 8
CAMACHO COROJO FIGURADO (Honduras)
This deep reddish brown beauty is a medium to full bodied smoke made with Cuban seed tobaccos from the fertile Jamastran Valley in Honduras. Enjoy tastes of espresso, a touch of cinnamon and a little earthiness. Perfect when paired with a dark lager. Primo Strength Rating: 8
KRISTOFF 685 WOODLAWN PERFECTO (Dominican Republic)
Here we have a small batch production of a classic double tapered shape that, again, is medium to full in body. Savor a blend of tobaccos from three different countries with peppery notes all the way through. Primo Strength Rating: 7
OLIVA MASTER BLEND 3 TORPEDO (Nicaragua)
This is a limited production, box-pressed, absolutely sensational stick blended to appeal to the most seasoned palates. A complex full-bodied smoke delivering notes of cream, coffee and delightful hints of brown sugar and maple. Primo Strength Rating: 8 1/2
A $58 value for $40!
CIGAR TIP OF THE WEEK: One of the pluses of these pointy figurados is that you can easily cut off as much of the butt as you want. Smaller cut....mellower, more direct smoke. Larger cut....richer, creamier, thicker smoke and more flavor. Just do not go too far into the body of the cigar. Keep your cuts below the shoulders. Going beyond the shoulders (into the body) can compromise the construction of the cigar and cause unraveling and cracking.
